American Legion

The American Legion, commonly known as the Legion, is a nonprofit organization of U.S. war veterans.  It was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is made up of state, U.S. territory, and overseas departments, and these are in turn made up of local posts.
